Does anyone here already have a good solution for an interactive walkthrough for your applications? Do people have any interest in this kind of thing for the applications they develop?
I originally considered wrapping a Web Component around https://driverjs.com/ but ultimately decided to make my own Web Component with a corresponding Elm wrapper. I then built a fairly generic tour system orchestrator that features both interactive and non-interactive steps for the tour script. So some steps the user just clicks “Continue” and other steps the tour waits for some activity.
Here is a non-interactive step:
The reason I went with my own overlay/popup is because my application has a lot of drag/drop operations and I wanted to highlight both the start and the ending locations to draw the users eye to the right places. Before the start is clicked the start rectangle glows/pulses, and then when the user mouse downs in the start rectangle the glow shifts to the end or second rectangle. Here is an interactive step + drag/drop dual highlight
If anyone is interested in checking out the tour it is here:

Ultimately I am asking to learn
- Would anyone like for me to publish the web component to npm and an Elm package for the popover or the tour system?
- Does anyone have a better or more robust solution than a hand-rolled web component? Of course, I wish I had asked before I spent the time building this one.
Still. Sunk cost fallacy and all. If there is a great alternative solution I am always happy to delete my code.
